was kidnapped from his driveway as he departed for work. Reso's car was
found in his driveway with the engine idling, and the drivers side door
open. Reso was shot in the arm, bound, gagged and left in a storage room
where he died. His kidnappers made an $18.5 million ransom demand.

millionaire Stephen Small was probably dead before the first ransom
call. His abductors stated they never intended to harm Small. An autopsy
showed that Mr. Small died of asphyxiation shortly after being buried
alive in a plywood box with food, water and a narrow plastic tube to the
surface for air.
